Ok, so I'm a day and 5 hours late. I really apologize to everyone who has been following along everyday. I was just feeling really low on Sunday and didn't really want to continue anymore. But I had to suck it up and keep going. So to you all, I apologize sincerely. I have 008 and 009 ready and being uploaded. Along with a contest entry too, which I will provide more info on at a later date, but if you want to hear it now you can check my soundcloud.

Damn, I should have grabbed a James Bond sample beat for this. Completely missed that opportunity. I'm not going to lie I've been up 24 hours at this point and I'm really tired. Been working sporadically on different projects. Trying to get myself in position to enter 3 contests within the next 3 days (was supposed to have 2 done by now). This is a few bars on Tech N9ne's "Questions" produced by QDIII, just a nice beat to help me practice speed rap. Cut it close today. This one is a hot 16 and hook I did over Kid Ink's "No One Left." The original track is kinda hot too, be sure to give it a check after you hear my remix. I wanted to push my boundaries on this one and get uncomfortable and question how good the track is. "Hot 16s" I knew I liked right away before recording it, I could hear exactly how it would sound in my head. But with this one I had no idea if it was going to be good until I was done. I think it turned out great I really like this one. Leave your comments below! Day 5! Todays track is a remix on T.I.'s "24's" which could be dubbed "Hot 16's" because of the hook on this one. This one was just all fun and really the reason why I wanted to go through with this so badly, because I needed to get the spark back in writing rhymes. It isn't all the way there yet, but I'm definitely starting to have fun again and I'm excited to see where this is going to go! Thanks to everyone who has rocked with me so far, let's keep it goin! (please let it be noted I didn't know verse 2 was 12 bars before recording it, that was quite the surprise when i'm going into bar 13 and the hook starts. but I think it all worked out and sounds really good.) Day 4 of "The Gift" is a hot 16 over the "She Will" beat. I had a lot more written, but it didn't fit and sounded really bad to be honest so I scrapped it and just ran with the 16. I'll make it up on another day, I promise. But for now this is a.... pretty direct 16 bars towards women. I really just think I am fed up of seeing Facebook posts about women who hate their babydads and continue to do hoe shit. So this is my "response" to them. I hope you enjoy this and also hope you will share with everyone you know! The Gift! Day 3 of "The Gift" brings us to an instrumental from 9th wonder. I really enjoyed the direction Charles Hamilton was going in when he did it, but I wasn't convinced that he lyrically took it there. So I had my eye on this instrumental for a long time and finally put something together for it and I'm really glad I did. I really enjoy the bars - though it can feel like a random assortment of thoughts at a few points - I am proud of the last 4 before the hook takes it to the end. "how can I be an artist if they paint me as a cynic cause I'm such a critic, of these 'artists' with a gimmick that someone else gave you now think for a minute are you art or a nail trynna keep up an image?" because... nails hold up paintings... get it? Basically I had to take a stab at artists who are allowing the money (be it a major label, people in their circle, or even the "fans") to dictate their image and how they present themselves to hip hop. I believe as artists we all have a responsibility to be true to ourselves - if your TRUE self is party all the time then be that but don't sit in an interview and complain about that lifestyle and continue to rap about that lifestyle. Be true to yourself. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. The Gift Day 002! I started off with Frank Ocean's "Pink Matter" instrumental (reproduced by GMF) and I felt like I was lifting a boulder off of my mind as I wrote this. I didn't even go very deep into it at all, but it was there. Holding me down. So finally after 16 bars I decided I need to switch beats if I'm going to make this a good track for day 2. I came across this "New God Flow" instrumental (reproduced by Wonya Love) and I was feeling it instantly. A lot of why I'm doing this is to exercise my mind into getting back into writing whenever I sit down to write. Over the summer I had one day a week scheduled to write with Tay (from Popular Demand) and every monday I would write AT LEAST one hot 16 for the track we were working on. Then in September and August... that was not the case. Things fell apart for me internally and I really don't know where the spark went. So I knew I needed to push myself to make hot records again. So that's where I'm at with this, and I really hope I can take it up a notch each day and I really hope you all enjoy the records. So here it is, The Gift 002 Day one is finally here! "The Gift"!! To kick things off, I used the Jay-z "Dynasty" beat that was recently taken by Crooked i for his "Shady Dynasty" freestyle. I heard his record, and I just knew thats where the bar is right now and I had to do my part to compete with that. So here it is! Day one of "The Gift!" Be sure to check back here everyday for the remainder of the month! |
